- 2 oz high-rye bourbon (at least 45% ABV)
- 1 oz premium sweet red vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 1 brandied cherry
- 1 small twist of orange peel
Instructions:
- Place your coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 10 minutes to pre-chill.
- In a heavy-bottomed mixing glass, combine the high-rye bourbon, sweet red vermouth, and both sets of bitters.
- Fill the mixing glass 3/4 full with large, solid ice cubes.
- Insert a bar spoon and stir gently but rapidly for 30 seconds until the mixing glass feels cold to the touch.
- Using a Julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the cocktail into the chilled glassware until the last drop of amber liquid is clear.
- Garnish with a brandied cherry and express the oils of an orange twist over the surface if desired.
